TP4056 Module Spice Model | Free Download

Welcome back, electronics enthusiasts! If you are designing portable power solutions using single-cell Lithium-Ion or Lithium-Polymer batteries, the TP4056 is likely your go-to charge controller. However, testing hardware prototypes directly can sometimes lead to component failure if margins aren't checked beforehand.

What is Included in the Simulation Circuit?

The provided SPICE model testing environment accurately mimics a real-world charging module layout. Key components include:

  • The Core Charger (U1 - TP4056): Manages the CC/CV charging cycle. Resistor $R_3$ ($1.2\text{ k}\Omega$) sets the fast-charge current limit to $1\text{A}$.

  • Protection Circuitry (U2 & Q1): Integrates the DW01A battery protection IC and dual N-channel MOSFETs (FS8205A) to safeguard against overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuits.

  • Status Indicators: Dual LED configuration to monitor charging (CHRG) and standby/complete (STDBY) states.

  • Load & Battery Cell: Simulated single-cell Li-ion battery with a dynamic discharge profile powering a test load.

Understanding the Interactive Analysis Graph

When running the interactive analysis, the output graph plots Battery Voltage ($\text{VB+}$) against Charging Current ($\text{IB+}$) across several key operational zones:

  1. Discharge State: The cell supplies current to the load, dropping the terminal voltage safely.

  2. Pre-Charge Phase: A low trickle current gently revives deeply depleted cells.

  3. Constant Current (CC) Mode: Full programmed current ($1\text{A}$) is injected, and voltage rises linearly.

  4. Constant Voltage (CV) Mode: Voltage locks at $4.2\text{V}$ while current decays exponentially.

  5. Termination: Charging shuts off automatically once the current drops to $1/10\text{th}$ of the set value ($100\text{ mA}$).
